Chris Mansell is an Australian poet, writer, performer, publisher and editor. Her work appears in many forms from digital animations to performance works, composer–poet collaborative music projects, poet–artist books, poetic objects and conventional books. In recent years she has been exploring aspects of the written word, and preferencing in various works one or two aspects of language over others to observe the way this changes the way we read and comprehend.
RUBRICS is a work that occludes, then slowly reveals, possible poems within poems. As each page is turned, some words disappear and others appear, some fade, and others begin to come into pale focus. The gradual uncovering of the poem slows perception and gives a meditative grace to the act of reading by literally giving depth to that act.
