Sam Leach surveys the creative output of Melbourne-based artist Sam Leach, looking specifically at the artist’s idiosyncratic conceptual and visual vernacular.
Featuring an essay by Tim Winton and an interview by Andrew Frost, the book explores the method and motivation behind what Winton terms ‘an iconography of disquiet’ in Leach’s virtuosic oil paintings. It canvasses the artist’s uncanny thematic conflations of nature and culture as well as his stylistic concoctions of photorealist representation and geometric abstraction.
